Lalit Kala Akademi under the purview of 3rd Print Biennale India in collaboration with Cosmic Heart Gallery presents Echoes on Paper: Continuities of Craft and Consciousness
The exhibition traces the enduring continuum of printmaking across time, bringing together the devotional lithographic prints of Raja Ravi Varma and the contemporary, chance-driven woodblock practice of Tongji Philip Qian.
From the democratisation of sacred imagery in the late nineteenth century to philosophical explorations of process and authorship today, the exhibition reflects on paper as both medium and metaphor — a vessel of faith, inquiry, and artistic transmission where craft becomes consciousness.

Cosmic Heart Gallery, in collaboration with The 8888 Consultaancy, is honoured to present “The Womb of Time,” an evocative exhibition by the celebrated artist Professor Dr, Udayraj A Gadnis. This collection, deeply resonant with the spirit of Navratri, celebrates the divine grace and nurturing presence of the Devi, the quintessential feminine energy that encompasses all creation.
In this series, Gadnis explores the infinite and timeless nature of the Divine Feminine. Through his vivid abstract compositions, he captures the essence of the Devi as the primordial source — the womb from which time itself is birthed. The spirals in his art are powerful symbols of the cyclical nature of time and existence, representing continuous growth and evolution. Each canvas pulsates with vibrant hues, reflecting the boundless power and beauty of the Goddess, who is both the creator and sustainer of life.
The artworks are a visual ode to the Devi’s presence, which resides in everything. They depict Her as the cosmic womb that nurtures and nourishes, the source of all existence, where beginnings and endings merge seamlessly. With masterful strokes and an intuitive play of colour, Gadnis transcends the physical, offering a glimpse into the metaphysical — the unseen essence of the divine that flows through all of creation.
Dr Udayraj Gadnis’s artistic journey, marked by persistence, passion, and philosophical depth, has spanned over 30 years. His work is recognized for its integration of ancient spiritual texts and philosophies, ranging from the Vedas and Upanishads to Sufism and Zen. His creations have earned him titles like “The Prince of Indian Contemporary Art” and “The Sage of Indian Contemporary Art.”
With over 3,000 paintings and 34 solo exhibitions worldwide, his recent exhibits include “The Durgasaptashati” at Nehru Centre in Mumbai (2024), “Suryakal” at the Bihar Museum Biennale (2023), and “Devi” in England (2023). His contributions to fine arts and the humanities were recognized with an honorary Ph.D. from Sanskriti University, India, awarded by former President Ram Nath Kovind. UG’s works can be found in the National Museum, London, the British Parliament, and other prestigious locations.
“As you journey through “Womb of Time,” may you connect with the eternal rhythm of the Devi’s presence, the source of all creation and the ultimate refuge. In the auspiciousness of Navratri, may these artworks serve as a reminder of her omnipotent grace and her love that envelops us all”, says Jalpa H Vithalani, Founder Cosmic Heart Gallery.
