Gerardo Korn
Gerardo Korn is a Argentine-German art photographer and visual artist born and living in Buenos Aires.
His father taught him at an early age the basic rules of photography and gave him his first SLR-camera (a Minolta SR-T 101) for his 15th birthday back in 1977 during a trip through Asia. There, in Indonesia, Hong Kong and Japan, he shot his first film rolls. Since then, a lot of water has flowed under the bridge, but he never lost his enthusiasm for photography!
He visited New Delhi, Agra and Calcutta, which he describes as indelible memories of a unique country.
Gerardo’s work has been exhibited in Mexico in 2014, at the Guadalajara International Book Fair (FIL), in Buenos Aires in 2016, at the prestigious Centro Cultural Borges, in Germany in 2017 and 2018, at Argentine diplomatic representations and at the Wintershall Company in Kassel, and in 2018 at the Buenos Aires City Legislature, which declared it of cultural interest.
In recent years Gerardo has been dedicated to a street photography project in Buenos Aires, “Costanera Sur”, which was awarded with an Honorable Mention at the prestigious IPA International Photo Awards. Along with the film project “The Goddess in the Pool”, about a fantastic work of art by renowned Argentine painter Guillermo Roux, distinguished at international film festivals in 2020/2021, including two in India, the Mumbai International Cult Film Festival (MICFF INDIA) and the Tagore International Film Festival (TIFF), where it was awarded an ‘Outstanding Achievement Award’.
In 2024 Gerardo exhibits for the first time works that lean towards decorative and abstract art, at the Livia Lisboa Fotokunst gallery in the city of Hamburg in Germany. Some of the works exhibited there, plus new ones not yet shown, will be part of his fourth exhibition at the Cosmic Heart Gallery in Mumbai, that is taking place in December 2024.
