Curling Ribbons

Cosmic Heart Gallery proudly unveils “Curling Ribbons”, a breathtaking exhibition of photographic abstractions by the Argentine-German artist Gerardo Korn. This remarkable collection invites viewers to embark on an intimate journey into the hidden beauty of nature and the transformative power of art. Korn’s works transcend traditional photography, presenting a unique synthesis of nature’s subtle wonders and the artist’s profound vision, all rendered through a strikingly modern aesthetic.

“Curling Ribbons” showcases Korn’s two-year-long exploration of natural forms—specifically, the delicate, often-overlooked curls of foliage found in hidden corners of the natural world. With an eye for detail and an unyielding dedication to his craft, Korn captures these organic shapes and textures, transforming them into compositions that are not merely decorative but profoundly evocative. His works reveal a world where simplicity and complexity coexist, where the ordinary is elevated to the extraordinary.

Speaking about his work, Korn shares, “To create these images is to connect with nature’s soul and, in doing so, redefine my artistic journey. The interplay of light, shadow, and color opens up a dialogue between the tangible and the abstract, challenging the way we see and experience the world.”

Cosmic Heart Gallery, known for its commitment to presenting thought-provoking, world-class art, is honored to bring Korn’s work to Indian audiences. This exhibition aligns seamlessly with the gallery’s vision of curating art that speaks to both the soul and intellect. As Jalpa H. Vithalani, curator and founder of Cosmic Heart Gallery, notes, “Gerardo Korn’s Curling Ribbons is not just an exhibition; it is an experience. His ability to extract elegance from the unnoticed and present it with such modernity is a testament to the infinite possibilities of creative exploration. It’s a privilege to showcase this collection, which is both deeply personal and universally resonant.”

Korn’s artistic process is as intricate as the works themselves. The photographs begin with raw encounters in nature—often in challenging conditions—where Korn identifies and captures his subjects. These initial captures are then transformed through his meticulous manipulation of light and color, creating abstract yet accessible imagery. The result is art that feels simultaneously rooted in nature and untethered by it, bridging the gap between realism and abstraction.

The exhibition also introduces viewers to Korn’s ongoing evolution as an artist. Influenced by his time with renowned Argentine painter Guillermo Roux, Korn’s work reflects a shift from impressionistic photography to a style that is unapologetically contemporary and experimental. His pieces are carefully printed on fine art Hahnemühle PhotoRag paper and presented with modern framing techniques, ensuring their visual impact is as striking in person as it is conceptually rich.

With Curling Ribbons, Korn invites us to rethink how we engage with art, nature, and abstraction. Each piece, a culmination of effort, vision, and artistry, challenges conventional boundaries and celebrates the beauty of the overlooked. As the Cosmic Heart Gallery celebrates its twelfth anniversary, this exhibition is a milestone, solidifying its place as a leading space for artistic innovation and dialogue.

Step into Curling Ribbons and witness the delicate dance between nature’s finest designs and Korn’s transformative lens—a collection that speaks to the heart of what it means to see beauty in the unexpected.

“Gerardo Korn’s work transcends traditional photography, presenting a groundbreaking fusion he defines as Visual Art Photography. By reimagining natural forms through light, color, and abstraction, his pieces are not just photographs but powerful visual statements intended to be hung as fine art. This innovative approach positions Korn’s work at the intersection of photography and contemporary art, offering collectors and connoisseurs a fresh and compelling perspective that redefines the possibilities of the medium” says Jalpa H Vithalani, Founder Cosmic Heart Gallery.

Gerardo Korn’s Curling Ribbons and his abstract compositions may seem worlds apart, yet they share a unifying vision—his evolution towards Visual Art Photography, where nature’s forms and everyday objects are transformed into striking, wall-worthy art that challenges perception and celebrates creativity. Together, they represent the duality of his journey: rooted in observation, yet soaring in abstraction.

About the Artist

Gerardo Korn stands at the intersection of cultures and disciplines, weaving his Argentine-German heritage into a body of work that is as dynamic as it is introspective. With a background steeped in photography and an artistic sensibility honed through years of exploration, Korn has cultivated a distinct voice in the world of visual arts. His works, influenced by the textures of urban landscapes and the organic elegance of nature, demonstrate a deep respect for the smallest details of life and their potential to evoke universal themes.

Korn’s connection to the renowned Argentine painter Guillermo Roux further informs his artistic approach. Roux’s philosophy of finding art in the ordinary resonates deeply in Korn’s work, inspiring a shift from impressionistic photography to abstraction that is fresh, bold, and modern. His pieces are more than images—they are narratives that celebrate the harmony between nature’s organic beauty and human creativity.

Korn has exhibited internationally, with Curling Ribbons marking a significant moment in his career. This exhibition not only highlights his growth as an artist but also his unwavering dedication to pushing boundaries and redefining the potential of photographic art. (Read more about the Artist…)
