Presenting an artist who has mastered the charcoal medium with unmatched brilliance and created beautiful figurative artworks, which have an element of the real & surreal.
A post graduate in commerce, Gautam Patole chose to shift from being a photojournalist to an artist in 2009. His first love in arts was ceramic painting; but it was the charcoal medium that he managed to tame, transporting us to the bygone era of black & white. Gautam Patole’s works are mostly figurative.
“A tint of colour adds beauty to the charcoal. I paint to give happiness to the viewers. The basic underlying goal of each of my work is to give joy to those who see my work,” says the Artist.
“To laugh often and much; To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; To appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.”
Gautam Patole & his art have a persona and presence that engages you. The visual of each artwork evokes infinite beauty & substance. The Artist’s strokes are powerful and speak in more ways than one. This is one time when the shades of black & white communicate in a multi-dimensional way and the viewer is quite simply in awe of each masterpiece.
